Schillerhaus

Leipzig, Sachsen

Friedrich Schiller lived upstairs in this small farmhouse in Gohlis in the summer of 1785, the oldest surviving farmhouse within Leipzig. He worked here on Don Carlos and wrote the first version of An die Freude. About 100 exhibits cover his writing, his Leipzig stage productions and the Schiller society, and an 18th-century Saxon interior has been recreated. The garden hosts performances and readings in summer.
