Stiftskirche St. Servatius
Quedlinburg, Sachsen-Anhalt
Up on the castle hill, the collegiate church is a fine piece of high Romanesque building: a flat-roofed, three-aisled basilica raised mainly between 1070 and 1129. It was the church of the Quedlinburg convent for noblewomen and, with the old town and castle, is part of a UNESCO World Heritage site. An earlier chapel on the spot housed the burial of King Henry I.
