Klopstockhaus
Quedlinburg, Sachsen-Anhalt
Poet Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock was born in this house below Quedlinburg's castle hill, which dates from around 1560. It now holds the town's literature museum, with displays on his life and work, from the epic The Messiah to his odes, hymns and songs. Two other Quedlinburg figures of the 18th century, among them Dorothea Christiana Erxleben, are also featured. The house became the town's first museum back in 1899.
