Sprengel Museum Hannover

Hannover, Niedersachsen

Art of the 20th and 21st centuries is the subject of this museum on the northern shore of the Maschsee, with strengths in German Expressionism and French modernism. Its core is the collection of modern art that Margrit and Bernhard Sprengel gave to the city of Hanover in 1969. The building opened in 1979 and was extended in 1992, and a visit combines easily with a walk by the lake.
