Museum August Kestner

Hannover, Niedersachsen

Six thousand years of applied art are on show at this museum beside Hanover's New Town Hall. Its collections run from ancient Egyptian and classical cultures through crafts and design to one of northern Germany's largest coin and medal collections. It grew from the collection of August Kestner. A listed glass-and-concrete facade of 1961 wraps around the original 1889 building.
