Sammlung Prinzhorn

Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg

The focus here is art made by people who lived in psychiatric institutions: drawings, pictures and other works by former patients, along with pieces by psychiatric patients of recent decades. Physician and art historian Hans Prinzhorn built up the core of the collection after the First World War. It belongs to Heidelberg's university psychiatry and holds over 20,000 works, including pieces by Emma Hauck, Agnes Richter and August Natterer.
