Oberfränkisches Textilmuseum

Helmbrechts, Bayern

In the 19th century Helmbrechts was called the wardrobe of the world, shipping shawls to more than 140 countries. This textile museum, housed in a former manufacturer's house, traces how cloth-making in the region developed, from hand weaving of linen, wool and cotton to modern industry. You will see guild items such as coats of arms and chests, pattern books, and a working mechanical weaving mill.
