One of the main museums of Wrocław and Lower Silesia, it holds paintings and sculpture, with particular attention to the art of Silesia. The collection was assembled from 1947, after wartime destruction and the dispersal of the city's earlier museum holdings. It consists of a main building and three branches, and its holdings include contemporary art.
