Museum Zitadelle

Jülich, Nordrhein-Westfalen

Jülich's citadel is one of the best-preserved fortresses of the early modern period, and visitors explore it along with the exhibition inside. It follows the fortress from the 16th century to its abandonment in the 19th century, and the history of the Jülich region. Highlights include the staged workplace of the architect Alessandro Pasqualini, noble table culture in the former castle kitchen, and a striking collection of weapons. The works of the artist Johann Wilhelm Schirmer are also kept here.
