Museum und Park Kalkriese

Bramsche, Niedersachsen

Archaeologists found Roman coins, weapons and soldiers' equipment here at the foot of the Wiehengebirge, and the site is considered a possible location of the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest in AD 9. The archaeological museum displays the finds, and an open-air park lets you walk the grounds where the remains of a rampart came to light. It puts the story of Arminius and Varus right at the place where the evidence was found.
