Museum Industriekultur

Osnabrück, Niedersachsen

On the Piesberg near Osnabrück, where mining has gone on for centuries, this industrial museum explains how the hill formed and was used. It covers the geological processes, the extraction of its resources chiefly with steam engines, and the industrialisation of the region. It is housed in the old Hasesschacht building of the closed colliery where hard coal was once mined.
