Domschatz- und Diözesanmuseum

Osnabrück, Niedersachsen

Right beside Osnabrück Cathedral, this museum spreads more than a thousand years of the diocese's church art across about 500 square metres. You will see the cathedral treasury, reliquaries, manuscripts and early printed books, paintings, sculptures, vestments and fine furniture. The centrepiece is the cathedral chapter's cross from the early 11th century, set with gems, pearls and cameos and used as a processional cross ever since. Also on show are the relics of the diocese's patron saints Crispin and Crispinian, from the 13th century, and carved figures from the 14th to 16th centuries.
