Inside a former Stasi remand prison by Erfurt's Domplatz, this memorial recalls political imprisonment in East Germany. In December 1989 citizens occupied the Stasi district office here, the first such occupation, so the building joins repression with liberation. The permanent exhibition, Haft – Diktatur – Revolution, covers Thuringia from 1949 to 1989. Guided tours and workshops go deeper into the subject.
