Ballonmuseum Gersthofen

Gersthofen, Bayern

Ballooning is the sole subject here, in a museum that opened in 1985 in the old 1906 water tower and gained a new wing in 2003. Displays cover the early days of ballooning in Germany, technology, balloon making and sport, use in science and the military, and records and disasters. The core of the collection comes from the Augsburg balloonist Alfred Eckert.
