Naturmuseum Augsburg
Augsburg, Bayern
If you want to know what lies beneath southern Germany, start here. The natural history museum in the Augusta Arcades in Augsburg's northern old town focuses on the molasse, the weathered debris that forms the ground under much of the Alpine foreland. It is the only natural history museum in Germany specialising in it. Displays range from geology and mineralogy to botany, zoology and palaeontology, including fossils.
