Diözesanmuseum St. Afra
Augsburg, Bayern
Just north of the cathedral, between the Gothic cloister, the Romanesque chapter house and remains of the Carolingian cathedral, this museum shows the church art of the Augsburg diocese. You will find the cathedral's bronze door from around 1010, the funeral arms of Emperor Charles V from 1559, vestments linked to Saint Ulrich, Carolingian belt fragments and early Christian textiles. Metalwork, paintings and sculpture by Augsburg artists round out the collection.
