Brechthaus
Augsburg, Bayern
Bertolt Brecht was born upstairs in this small craftsman's house, squeezed between two Lech canals in Augsburg's old town, on 10 February 1898. The exhibition follows his childhood and youth, his life and his writing, with first editions, a stage set from 1949, life and death masks, and his mother's bedroom. Documentary films play on the first floor, and a reading lounge with a reference library lets you browse his work at leisure. A bright red stele outside marks the entrance.
