Bachritterburg Kanzach

Kanzach, Baden-Württemberg

On the edge of Kanzach stands a reconstructed timber motte, the kind of tower-on-a-mound castle lesser nobles lived in during the Middle Ages. This open-air museum was built on scientific principles, modelled on the moated castle at Eschelbronn. It recalls the castle of the local Bachritter, the stream knights of Kanzach. The Federsee lies about five kilometres to the east.
