Federseemuseum

Bad Buchau, Baden-Württemberg

On the edge of the Federsee bog in Upper Swabia, this archaeological museum shows how people lived on lakeshores thousands of years ago. The wet peat has preserved wood and other organic remains, so many finds come from hunting camps, pile dwellings and bog settlements. An open-air area lets you picture prehistoric life by the water. The museum also serves as the information point for the UNESCO World Heritage prehistoric pile dwellings around the Alps.
