Zoologisches Museum Kiel

Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein

Skeletons of a blue whale and a beluga, each the only one in Germany, are the highlight of this university museum. Other displays cover animal systematics, about 300 mounted European birds and butterfly ecology. The museum also keeps material from several marine research expeditions, including the Valdivia and Gauss voyages, in a building designed by Martin Gropius.
