Schifffahrtsmuseum Fischhalle

Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein

This maritime museum tells how Kiel grew up as a port city and how its trade and seafaring reached across the world. It occupies the old fish hall by the Sartorikai, built in 1910 to a design by Georg Pauly, with its tall roof still a landmark. Outside stands the lantern of the Kiel lightship, and along the nearby Seegarten quay lie museum ships: the rescue boat Hindenburg, a fireboat, the passenger ship Stadt Kiel and the 1906 buoy tender Bussard.
