U-Boot Wilhelm Bauer
Bremerhaven, Freie Hansestadt Bremen
A Type XXI submarine, built in 1944–45 as U-2540, lies open to visitors in Bremerhaven's Old Harbour. It is the only floating example of its type; raised in 1957, it later served the Bundesmarine until 1983. Today it has been restored to its wartime appearance. It lies beside the German Maritime Museum.
