Tonbergbaumuseum Siershahn

Siershahn, Rheinland-Pfalz

Clay has been dug in the Westerwald since the Middle Ages, and this museum tells the story on the grounds of the Gute Hoffnung mine. Maps and pictures explain how the clay deposits formed. The displays run from simple medieval shafts to modern open-pit mining, and show how old clay pits are restored and reused. It is a geopoint of the Westerwald-Lahn-Taunus geopark.
