Stiftsmuseum der Stadt Aschaffenburg

Aschaffenburg, Bayern

Late medieval buildings crowd around a Romanesque cloister on the hill of Aschaffenburg's old town, and the cloister leads straight into the collegiate church of St. Peter and Alexander. The museum fills the former chapter house with prehistoric and early historic finds and with art from the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque. The oldest masonry dates back to the 12th century, so the house is part of what you come to see.
