Four floors of the former Holy Spirit hospital tell the story of Nördlingen as a free imperial town. Original objects illustrate trade, the Whitsun fair, guilds, crafts and medieval justice. A model with around 6,000 tin figures re-creates the Battle of Nördlingen of 1634, and panel paintings from the 15th and 16th centuries sit alongside finds from the Ries region, including the Ofnet caves and a Roman villa rustica near Holheim.
