RiesKraterMuseum

Nördlingen, Bayern

An asteroid struck here some 15 million years ago and created the Nördlinger Ries basin. Six themed rooms explain the causes, the impact and the effects still visible today. The museum is in the Holzhofstadel, a barn dating from around 1503. It also displays a Moon rock from the Apollo 16 mission, on loan from NASA.
