Städtisches Museum Seesen

Seesen, Niedersachsen

Set in a park with a pond, this building began as a saddle farm, became a hunting lodge and later a forestry office; its timber-framed front dates from 1928. The exhibition covers the growth of Seesen and its former role as a railway junction. A main theme is the Steinweg family of piano makers, from which Steinway & Sons grew. The composer Louis Spohr's time in the town is also covered.
