Kloster Brunshausen

Bad Gandersheim, Niedersachsen

Founded in the 9th century as a Benedictine nunnery, this former monastery later housed monks and then a Protestant convent. In the church and parts of the monastery buildings, a museum now tells the history of Brunshausen and of Gandersheim Abbey. In 1944/45 the site was also a subcamp of Buchenwald concentration camp.
