Schumann-Haus

Leipzig, Sachsen

Robert and Clara Schumann spent the first four years of their marriage here, from 1840 to 1844, and their former first-floor apartment now holds rooms on their life and work. You can see the Schumann Salon, where the couple received guests, a Travel Room on their concert tours to Denmark and Russia, and a Biedermeier-style Sound Room with an interactive installation by Erwin Stache. The neoclassical house dates from 1838.
