Grieg-Begegnungsstätte

Leipzig, Sachsen

The Norwegian Edvard Grieg came to Leipzig in 1858, aged fifteen, to study at the conservatory. The permanent exhibition on the first floor of a listed building on Talstraße tells of his life and work. The house was home to the music publisher Edition Peters, whose Max Abraham was Grieg's mentor. The heart of the museum is the music room used for concerts; a Grieg sculpture stands in the garden, and the house is a stop on the Leipzig Notenspur.
