Schloss Freienwalde

Bad Freienwalde (Oder), Brandenburg

This summer palace of Queen Friederike Luise, completed around 1800, stands at the turning point from Rococo to Neoclassicism. In 1909 the industrialist and politician Walther Rathenau bought it, had it restored and furnished in period style, and laid out a park combining historic and modern elements. Today a memorial recalls Rathenau. The grounds also include a tea house, the castellan's house and the palace garden.
