Schillers Gartenhaus

Jena, Thüringen

Friedrich Schiller spent the summers of 1797 to 1799 here with his family, in a mid-18th-century garden house that then stood just outside Jena's gates. It was where he worked on parts of Wallenstein and Maria Stuart and wrote a number of ballads. Today the house is a museum and also a place for talks and events. It is one of only two surviving homes of the poet in Jena, the other being on Zwätzengasse.
