Schiefermuseum Ludwigstadt
Ludwigsstadt, Bayern
In Ludwigsstadt, slate was everywhere: on roofs, in schoolbags, under the Christmas tree. The German Slate Tablet Museum tells of the slate mining and tablet production that shaped the town from around 1830. After the railway arrived in 1885, the tablets were exported, and the world learned to write on slates from Ludwigsstadt.
