Museum Geißlerhaus

Neuhaus am Rennweg, Thüringen

Set in the birthplace of glassblower and instrument maker Heinrich Geißler (1814–1879) in the Igelshieb district, this museum combines local history with the history of technology. It recalls a pioneer of vacuum technology whose gas discharge tubes advanced physics. The house, built in the mid-18th century for a glassblowing family in the style typical of the Thuringian slate uplands, is part of the appeal.
