Reichsstadtmuseum Weißenburg

Weißenburg in Bayern, Bayern

What was life like in an imperial free city? Across from the church of St. Andreas, this museum follows Weißenburg's story from the Middle Ages to the end of its imperial-city days in 1802. Rather than running in strict chronological order, the rooms are themed: trade, church, crafts and guilds, music and science. Much of the display grew out of an old local antiquarian society's collection, and it includes an imperial letter granting a coat of arms, dated 1481. The Roman museum is right next door.
