Paläontologisches Museum München

München, Bayern

Fossils from across Earth's history fill this museum near the Königsplatz. Highlights include the Munich specimen of Archaeopteryx from the Solnhofen limestone, the head of a Triceratops, and skeletons of a giant deer, a cave bear and a sabre-toothed cat. The story of the Nördlinger Ries impact crater is also told. The building, put up around 1900 as an arts and crafts school, is worth a look in its own right.
