Osthaus Museum Hagen

Hagen, Nordrhein-Westfalen

Modern art in a building with a story. Art patron Karl Ernst Osthaus had it built around 1900, with an interior designed by Henry van de Velde, and it opened in 1902 as the Museum Folkwang, the first museum of what was then contemporary art. Today it is Hagen's municipal art museum, and the rooms themselves, shaped by Osthaus's vision, are part of the draw.
