Ofen- und Keramikmuseum Velten

Velten, Brandenburg

Around 1900, Velten was a stove-making town on the edge of Berlin, and this museum tells how rich clay deposits grew into a whole industry. It follows the story of the tiled stove and local ceramics production, with tiles, stove ornaments, stove models and pattern books. It occupies an old factory complex, with its works hall, engine and boiler house, outbuilding and transformer station, all listed as a heritage ensemble. The collection itself goes back to 1905.
