Naturhistorisches Museum Wien

Wien, Wien

A grand neo-Renaissance building on Maria-Theresien-Platz houses Vienna's natural history museum, whose collections go back to the 18th century. Its 39 exhibition rooms show more than 100,000 objects from the earth, life and human sciences. The museum opened in 1889 and is also a working research centre, with millions more specimens in storage.
