Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien

Wien, Wien

Behind a domed façade on Maria-Theresien-Platz, this art museum shows collections that grew out of the Habsburgs' holdings. The Neo-Renaissance building was raised between 1871 and 1891 to designs by Gottfried Semper and Carl von Hasenauer, and its interiors are richly decorated. It stands directly opposite the Natural History Museum, the two buildings framing the square with its Maria Theresa monument.
