Museum Zwangsarbeit im Nationalsozialismus
Weimar, Thüringen
Across 850 square metres, this museum traces how forced labour worked in Germany and the occupied countries of Europe between 1933 and 1945, and what it meant for those caught up in it. It occupies the south wing of the former Gauforum, built around 1940 as the seat of Gauleiter Fritz Sauckel, who from 1942 was in charge of labour deployment. The building is itself part of the story the exhibition tells.
