Museum Tabakspeicher

Nordhausen, Thüringen

A half-timbered warehouse from 1712, once used to store tobacco for a cigar factory, now tells the story of Nordhausen across about 1,000 square metres. It focuses on the town's economic roots: grain distilling, chewing tobacco and mechanical engineering, along with crafts such as blue-dye printing, furriers, tailors, shoemakers and bakers. Archaeological finds from around Nordhausen add to the tour, and there is a historic cinema hall.
