Flohburg

Nordhausen, Thüringen

A Gothic half-timbered house with an ornate façade and steep gabled roof, the Flohburg dates in its present form from 1473/74. Inside you can see a deep cellar from the 11th or 12th century and the panelled Bohlenstube of 1506, the house's finest room. Today it holds the Nordhausen Museum on the town's history. Over the centuries it has also served as a butcher's, an inn, a theatre and a children's library.
