Mauzoleum Walki i Męczeństwa w Warszawie

Śródmieście, mazowieckie

Housed in the former Gestapo headquarters on Szucha Avenue, this is one of the best-preserved sites of Nazi terror against Poles in Warsaw. Makeshift cells were set up in the basement, where prisoners were interrogated and tortured. Inscriptions scratched into the walls by inmates survive, many of them personal, patriotic or religious. The museum shows the conditions in which Polish patriots and resistance fighters were held.
