Kreismuseum Grimma

Grimma, Sachsen

Opened in 1901, this museum stands next to the former Augustinian monastery church, which still shapes the town's skyline. The present house dates from 1817 and took its current form in 1841; on this site Magdalena von Staupitz founded the town's first girls' school in 1529. The listed ensemble also includes the gateway and architectural fragments in the garden, among them a stone cross.
