Göschenhaus Hohnstädt (Grimma)

Grimma, Sachsen

The publisher Georg Joachim Göschen lived in this house in Hohnstädt, which he bought together with the neighbouring estate in 1795. He published works by Wieland and Schiller as well as editions of Goethe and Klopstock. A memorial room recalls his proofreader Johann Gottfried Seume, who set out from Grimma on his famous walk to Syracuse. The estate's three-sided farmyard stands alongside.
