Industriemuseum Howaldtsche Metallgießerei

Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein

Built in 1884 beside the Schwentine, the old Howaldt shipyard foundry is a yellow brick building with red decorative stripes and a chimney rising from its centre. It cast brass, copper and bronze parts such as porthole frames, fittings and levers. As the oldest surviving witness of the shipyard industry on the eastern shore of Kiel Fjord, it has been a museum since 2007.
