Hexenbürgermeisterhaus
Lemgo, Nordrhein-Westfalen
The merchant Hermann Kruwel had this house on Breite Straße built between 1568 and 1571, as inscriptions on the facade and the hall fireplace record. Its name comes from a later resident, Mayor Hermann Cothmann, who gained a reputation as a witch hunter during Lemgo's witch trials. It is a typical merchant's house with a high entrance hall at the front and an impressive hall with a fireplace at the back. Today it houses a museum.
