Lippisches Landesmuseum

Detmold, Nordrhein-Westfalen

Opposite Detmold's princely residence stands the Lippe State Museum, founded in 1835 as a natural history museum. It has grown into a multi-discipline museum with collections on natural history, prehistory, regional history of Lippe, folk life, art, furniture and interiors, and ethnology. A permanent exhibition in the tithe barn deals with Arminius, Thusnelda and the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest.
