Heimatmuseum Rodenberg

Rodenberg, Niedersachsen

Rodenberg's town museum has occupied the old Ständehaus since 1981. It is the only building of the former moated castle to survive the town fire of 1859, and until 1640 it served as the meeting place of the Schaumburg estates. Above the entrance to the vaulted cellar, the west façade carries a coat-of-arms frieze, probably from the 16th century. Remains of the stair tower and two fireplace jambs from the former princes' wing can still be seen.
